Problem
Between 2011 and 2023, Gurugram’s tree and forest cover declined from approximately 10.8% to 6.7%, indicating major green-area losses across natural habitats and urban zones. This drop reflects unchecked deforestation, illegal land use, and shrinking ecological spaces.
📍 Where Is It Happening?
Aravalli hills near Gwal Pahari, Basai Wetland, Mangar Bani, and Bandhwari have faced illegal encroachments and construction—despite ongoing Supreme Court and NGT protections.
Authorities recorded 344 trees cut along Vyapar Kendra Road between Sectors 27 and 43, with no compensatory planting plan in place.
