Cyber Safe Gurugram
From phishing scams to hacked bank accounts — Gurugram’s digital threat is real, rising, and often ignored.

What & How (Problem Overview)
Gurugram is one of India’s most digitally active cities — but also among its most targeted. With a rising number of cyber frauds, digital impersonations, phishing attacks, job scams, and AI-powered deepfakes, no resident is truly safe online anymore.
From school students falling prey to gaming and screen-sharing scams, to senior citizens being tricked via fake helpline numbers, and professionals losing lakhs to job fraud or investment cons — cybercrime is hitting every age group. The lack of digital literacy and quick response mechanisms only make the threat more severe.
Since When & Scale (Historical Context + Magnitude)
Cybercrime in Gurugram escalated sharply after 2020, as work-from-home, online shopping, and digital banking became the norm. In 2024 alone, Gurugram recorded ₹350+ crore in cyber fraud losses, nearly doubling from 2023.
Only 24% of that amount was recovered, despite the presence of police helpline 1930.
Cybercriminals now use advanced tools: screen mirroring apps, AI voice changers, and fake government websites — making it nearly impossible for the average user to tell what’s real.
Who Can Solve It (Stakeholders)
Cybersecurity is no longer a technical issue — it's a community issue. A safe Gurugram requires:
· Cyber Police to be better staffed, trained, and equipped with tech tools.
· Schools and Colleges to educate students about basic cyber hygiene.
· Corporates and Startups to train employees and report suspicious activities.
· RWAs and Elder Clubs to organize awareness workshops and helpline briefings.
· CSR & NGOs to fund infrastructure like awareness drives, simulation labs, and support centers.
What Is the Solution (Actionable Steps)
Cyber Safe Gurugram is a mission to make every resident digitally aware, alert, and protected. We’re doing this through:
1. Cyber Champs: Training 1 lakh school and college students in Gurugram through workshops, certifications, and awareness sessions.
2. Cyber Marshals: Creating a network of 50,000 senior citizens trained to protect their communities in RWAs and housing societies.
3. Cyber Gurus of Gurugram: A city radio + podcast series with experts answering real citizen queries on live helplines.
4. Cyber Panchayats: Awareness drives in Haryana villages using dangals, real stories, and interactive formats.
5. Corporate Cyber Shield: CSR-driven programs inside companies to train employees in phishing detection, data protection, and scam response.
🎯 With the support of MHA, I4C, and local police, the goal is to make Gurugram India’s first digitally resilient city by 2027.
